La Sirena

Fictional or not, I’ve always been so fascinated by stories of sirens and mermaids. My typical art follows the theme of maritime scenes, sea creatures, and coastal towns by day. However, I’ve never explored much of the ocean by night. Since this process is all about stepping outside my comfort zone, I decided to get deeper and darker with the color palette. Sunsets are overrated anyways...I think the real magic happens when the moon rises.

While creating this piece, the meaning revealed itself. Everyone is so proud to share their perfect days...but no one wants to talk about the dark nights. To me, there’s no such thing as perfect. Some days you’re as bright as the sun, and others are like a cold night. That’s life...and you have to trust. It’s a reminder to stop chasing the sun, because the most magical moments can be found under the moonlight.
