This piece was inspired by the islands of Ibiza and Formentara. The beautiful blue background is reflective of the aqua tones of the Balearic Sea. The figure is my interpretation of Tanit. The Carthaginians worshiped Tanit, the goddess of fertility, love, and the moon. Her story and reign is centuries old, but her presence is still recognized and honored on these islands. I was inspired by her story of prosperity and protection. I could not have dreamed of a more perfect muse for my first piece...la diona divina (divine goddess).
